Battlefield Trail Phase II
City of Dallas
In 2024, Excellere Construction successfully completed the $7 million Battlefield Trail Phase II project in Dallas, Georgia. The project extends over 3 miles and includes a 287-foot pedestrian bridge crossing an active railroad, a 12,000-foot multi-use trail through both urban areas and dense woodland, 2,000 feet of boardwalk over rugged, mountainous terrain, and multiple reinforced soil slopes exceeding 20 feet in height to support the trail.
Bob Callan Trunk Trail Phase II
Excellere, in collaboration with Cobb DOT and Cumberland CID, completed a $4.6M FHWA & GDOT-funded trail project along Interstate North Parkway. The project involved constructing a 10-foot-wide multi-use path spanning 0.5 miles, a trailhead with granite veneer walls, landscaping, hardscaping, and a CID monument, and a pedestrian bridge over Rottenwood Creek with a 12-foot clear width and 8-foot vertical clearance. Additional scope included elevated trail segments, water line work, drainage, and grading.
Chattahoochee River Pedestrian Trail Improvements
This pilot program—created to enhance public access along the Chattahoochee—was successfully completed by Excellere Construction. The $3.2 million project delivered 2,400 feet of concrete pavers, 2,400 feet of colored exposed aggregate concrete, granite edging, and nearly 500 feet of elevated boardwalk featuring an overlook deck. To mitigate flooding risks, sections of the trail were elevated through precise grading and structural reinforcement. Advanced construction methods were used throughout, resulting in a durable, high-quality path designed for safe and enjoyable walking, running, and biking.
Big Creek Greenway Boardwalk Replacement, City of Alpharetta
Excellere completed this project for the City of Alpharetta, which involved constructing more than 1,000 feet of boardwalk adjacent to Big Creek near Mansell Road. The work included the installation of Excellere-designed helical piers to support steel framing, reinforced concrete decking, and steel handrails along both sides of the boardwalk.
Big Creek Greenway Phase 2-Forsyth County
This $3.6 million project rehabilitated 0.86 miles of the heavily traveled Big Creek Greenway in Forsyth County, GA. The scope included removing aging boardwalks and constructing four new steel-framed boardwalks with timber decking, all supported by helical pile foundations designed by Excellere. By increasing the bent spacing from 8 feet to 12 feet, the team reduced materials and labor by roughly 50%. A custom steel transition bracket standardized the boardwalk width, eliminating trip hazards and improving accessibility. All work was completed with strict protection of sensitive wetlands, delivering a cost-effective, safe, and durable trail system.
